J Johnstone Engineering recently designed, fabricated and installed a bespoke steel balcony railing for a new build property located near Thursby, close to Carlisle in Cumbria.
The balcony was positioned to take advantage of the surrounding countryside, giving the homeowners open views across the fields and towards the mountains in the distance.
Our team produced a railing system that provides both safe edge protection and a clean architectural finish to the balcony area.
Bespoke Balcony Railing Fabrication
The balcony railing was designed and fabricated in-house at our workshop in Silloth, Cumbria.
Producing the railing internally allowed the design to be tailored to suit the layout of the balcony and the appearance of the new build property.
Bespoke railings can be produced in a variety of styles depending on the requirements of the building and the surrounding architecture.

All steel components for the railing system were fabricated at our family-run workshop in Silloth before being delivered to site.
Manufacturing the steelwork in-house allows us to ensure each section is produced accurately before installation.
Balcony Railing Installation Near Carlisle
Once fabrication was complete, the railing was delivered to the property near Thursby where it was installed by our experienced on-site fitting team.
Careful installation ensured the railing aligned correctly with the balcony structure while providing safe protection for the elevated outdoor space.
Part of a Larger Structural Steel Project
The balcony railing formed part of a larger project at the property, which also included the installation of structural steel beams and an A-frame roof structure fabricated and installed by J Johnstone Engineering.
